Georgia gained the commitment of four-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander on Thursday, giving the Bulldogs the No. 1 Class of 2022 in the 247Sports rankings, less than two months before the early signing period.

A Texas native, the 6-foot-3, 325-pound Alexander will play his senior season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. He also weighed a commitment to Texas A&M.

Georgia’s class now has 21 recruits, including five-star defensive prospects Malaki Starks and Mykel Williams, both from Georgia.

The Bulldogs surpassed Alabama for the No. 1 ranking. The Crimson Tide have three five-star players among their 17 commits.

No. 3 Penn State, Ohio State and Notre Dame round out the Top 5 recruiting classes.
