The Indianapolis Colts designated All-Pro left guard Quenton Nelson to return from injured reserve on Wednesday. He now is eligible to practice and can be activated within the next 21 days.

Nelson has been on injured reserve since Oct. 2 because of an ankle injury and missed the past three games.

The 25-year-old Nelson will start out slowly at practice, coach Frank Reich said. But Reich didn’t shut the door on the chance of Nelson playing Sunday night when the Colts (2-4) visit the San Francisco 49ers (2-3).

Before the injury, Nelson started 51 consecutive games to begin his career after being taken by the Colts with the sixth overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. He has been an All-Pro selection each season of his career thus far.
