Chris Blewitt’s 28-yard field goal with 10:14 remaining gave Houston a seven-point lead, and the visiting Roughnecks held on for their first victory of the season, 18-17 over the winless Memphis Showboats in a United Football League game Saturday.

Memphis (0-3) cut its deficit to one point on a 4-yard touchdown run by Troy Williams with 18 seconds left, but the Showboats’ two-point conversion pass was incomplete.

For Houston (1-2), Nolan Henderson passed for 80 yards and a touchdown, and Zaquandre White ran 15 times for 50 yards and caught three passes for 28 yards.

Memphis was led by E.J. Perry, who threw for 131 yards and a TD with two interceptions, and Kwamie Lassiter II (six catches for 79 yards and a TD).

Houston was 7-for-14 on third-down conversions, and Memphis was 5-for-14.
