Logan O’Hoppe had three hits, including a two-run home run, Mike Trout homered for a third straight game, and the Los Angeles Angels slugged their way to a 10-4 victory over the Cleveland Guardians in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday.

Luis Rengifo and Jorge Soler also homered for the Angels, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Jack Kochanowicz (1-0) threw five innings of four-hit ball. He gave up three runs (two earned), struck out four and walked three.

Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee (1-1) was pelted for seven runs on eight hits over four-plus innings. He stuck out four and walked one. Carlos Santana tallied two hits and two RBIs, including a solo home run for the Guardians, who lost their fourth game in five tries.

Cleveland struck on Santana’s solo homer in the top of the first inning — his first with Cleveland since 2020, when his second stint with the franchise ended.

Los Angeles got the run back in the bottom of the inning, when Rengifo’s 402-foot shot knotted the score. After Trout walked, Soler launched his first homer of the year to give the Angels a 3-1 lead.

Bo Naylor’s leadoff home run in the top of the third cut Cleveland’s deficit in half. Kochanowicz then struck out Bryan Rocchio, but gave up a single to Steven Kwan before Jose Ramirez reached on third baseman Nolan Schanuel’s throwing error. Santana’s run-scoring groundout knotted the score at three.

After Kochanowicz got a pair of quick outs in the top of the fifth, Kwan singled and Ramirez and Santana walked to load the bases. The Los Angeles starter escaped by getting Kyle Manzardo to fly out.

The Angels jumped on Bibee in the home half of the fifth, as Rengifo led off with a single and Trout connected on his third home run of the year. After Soler was hit by a pitch, O’Hoppe hit his fourth homer of the season to double the margin and chase Bibee from the game.

Reliever Triston McKenzie entered and gave up a single to Schanuel, walked Jo Adell and allowed Tim Anderson’s two-run double. Taylor Ward’s RBI single stamped Los Angeles’ seven-run fifth inning.

Nolan Jones’ RBI groundout in the eighth pulled the Guardians made it 10-4, before Ian Anderson struck out Johnathan Rodriguez in the ninth to close out the Angels’ fifth victory.
