The Washington Capitals signed defenseman Dylan McIlrath to a two-year, $1.6 million extension on Thursday.

McIlrath, 32, has recorded two assists and 14 penalty minutes in 11 games this season.

He captained Washington’s American Hockey League affiliate Hershey to Calder Cup championships in 2023 and 2024.
