MLB: Rockies LHP Austin Gomber (shoulder) headed to IL

Colorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber will open the season on the injured list with shoulder soreness, the Denver Post reported Thursday.

Gomber, 31, made just one appearance this spring, allowing one hit with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox on Feb. 25.

Gomber was 5-12 with a 4.75 ERA in a career-high 30 starts last season, striking out 116 batters, walking 38 and giving up 30 home runs in 165 innings.

He is 35-40 with a 4.86 ERA in 156 career games (112 starts) with the St. Louis Cardinals (2018, 2020) and Rockies.
