NCAAB: Four score in double figures as Cincinnati dominates TCU

Cincinnati led from start to finish with four players scoring in double figures, led by Jizzle James’ 18 points, in a 75-63 victory Saturday over visiting TCU in a Big 12 matchup.

Cincinnati (16-11, 6-10 Big 12) has won four of its last six games, including its last three home games.

TCU (15-12, 8-8) failed to achieve its first four-game winning streak in the Big 12 since 2017. The Horned Frogs are 2-6 on the road in the Big 12.

James also had four rebounds and four assists.

Dillon Mitchell, who recorded a double-double last year with Texas in a win at TCU, had another one Saturday against the Horned Frogs with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Day Day Thomas and Josh Reed each had 13 points.

TCU was led by David Punch’s 18 points and six rebounds. Vasean Allette finished with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Cincinnati never trailed after starting with a 13-0 lead, making six of its first nine shots from the field. Thomas had seven points in that span.

TCU did not score its first points until 14:05 remained in the first half, when Allette made a 3-pointer.

The Horned Frogs missed their first six shots of the game and were 1 of 14 in the first nine minutes of the game.

TCU cut the lead to 23-20 with 4:20 left in the first half on Jace Posey’s 3-pointer that capped an 11-4 run.

James led a 10-5 Cincinnati surge with seven points that increased the Bearcats’ lead to 31-22 with 1:23 remaining until halftime.

Cincinnati again started strong in the second half, outscoring TCU 13-4 to take a 44-28 lead with 15:39 left. James had five points in that stretch.

Mitchell led a 10-2 run with six points, increasing the lead to 54-34 with 10:30 left.

Trazarien White made two 3-pointers and had eight points in a 10-4 stretch that cut the lead to 66-57 with 2:15 left.

Reed followed with a breakaway dunk and was fouled on the play.

He converted the free-throw attempt for the 3-point play, putting Cincinnati ahead 69-57 with 1:45 left.
