The Vegas Golden Knights signed veteran forward Brandon Saad to a prorated one-year contract worth $1.5 million on Friday that spans the remainder of the season.

Saad, 32, was waived by the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday and cleared on Wednesday. The Blues then placed Saad on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.

He was in the fourth season of a five-year, $22.5 million contract.

Saad recorded 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) and six penalty minutes in 43 games this season.

A two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks, Saad has totaled 515 points (260 goals, 255 assists) in 906 career games with the Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche and Blues.
