Xander Schauffele has withdrawn from next week’s Farmers Insurance Open, the second consecutive tournament the world’s No. 2-ranked player will miss due to an undisclosed “medical reason.”

Schauffele also is missing this week’s The American Express in La Quinta, Calif., and will now sit out the Torrey Pines event for the first time since the San Diego native made his debut there in 2016 while on the Korn Ferry Tour. He finished ninth in last year’s Farmers, where he has four consecutive top-15 finishes.

Schauffele, who opened 2025 with a T30 at The Sentry, also will miss the second match for his TGL team. After winning the debut match of the league, the New York Golf Club will feature Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young on Tuesday.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler also remains sidelined by an injury to his right hand suffered while making Christmas dinner. He has not stated a firm date for his 2025 debut.

The 156-player Farmers field does include 20 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, led by No. 4 Collin Morikawa and No. 5 Hideki Matsuyama. Matthieu Pavon of France is the defending champion.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which is held on Jan. 30-Feb. 2, is the second signature event of the season. It features a $20 million prize pool and increased FedEx Cup points.
