The Los Angeles Dodgers traded infielder Gavin Lux to the Cincinnati Reds on Monday for outfield prospect Mike Sirota and a Competitive Balance Round A draft pick, around No. 37.

Lux, 27, found his name the subject of trade talks after the Dodgers increased their position depth by signing Korean infielder Hyeseong Kim on Friday. The Dodgers announced the three-year, $12.5 million deal, plus a two-year team option for 2028-29 that would pay Kim, who turns 26 at the end of January, an additional $9.5 million.

The Dodgers also have starting shortstop Mookie Betts as well as Miguel Rojas and infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor on the roster.

After missing the entire 2023 season due to an ACL tear in spring training, Lux batted .251 in 2024 with 10 home runs and 50 RBIs, a .320 on-base percentage and .383 slugging in 139 regular-season games (117 starts). He hit .176 (6-for-34) with one homer and four RBIs in the playoffs as the Dodgers won the World Series.

Lux played 138 games at second base and one at shortstop in the regular season and 11 at second base in the postseason. He was under team control through 2026.

The Dodgers selected Lux in the first round (20th) overall in the 2016 MLB Draft. He is a career .252 batter with 28 homers and 155 RBIs in 412 games over parts of five seasons.

Kim, who spent eight seasons with the Kiwoom Heroes, is considered an elite defender at multiple infield positions. He batted .326 with 11 homers, 75 RBIs and 30 stolen bases in 36 tries last season, finishing his KBO league career slashing .304/.364/.403.

Cincinnati selected Sirota, 21, in the third round of the 2024 draft out of Northeastern University. He batted .324 in his college career with 29 homers and 111 RBIs in 143 games.
