Dallas Mavericks star guard Kyrie Irving is sitting out of a road game against the Sacramento Kings on Monday night due to right shoulder soreness.

Irving scored a season-high 46 points on Saturday night, when the Mavericks lost 126-122 to the host Portland Trail Blazers.

Veteran guard Klay Thompson (illness) was ruled out close to tipoff on Monday.

Dallas is also missing big man Dereck Lively II (hip) and forward Naji Marshall (suspension). Lively is missing his third straight contest, and Marshall is serving the second game of a four-game suspension due to an altercation with Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

The game against the Kings also represents the Mavericks’ third in a row without star guard Luka Doncic (left calf strain). He will miss at least one month.

Irving, 32, is averaging 24.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game this season.
