Matt Duchene scored on an overtime rush up the ice to lift the Dallas Stars past the visiting St. Louis Blues 2-1 Saturday night.

Jason Robertson had a goal and an assist for the Stars and Jake Oettinger made 15 saves while making his fifth straight start. He extended his left pad to deny Pavel Buchnevich in overtime before Duchene scored the winner.

Jordan Kyrou scored for the Blues, who are 5-2-2 under new coach Jim Montgomery. Jordan Binnington made 35 saves to earn St. Louis a point.

The Blues sustained constant pressure during their first power play and finally scored just as their man advantage expired. After Robert Thomas had a shot blocked, he retrieved the puck and found Kyrou alone in the low slot.

Kyrou scored at the 9:08 mark — his seventh goal in his last 11 games — to put St. Louis up 1-0.

Dallas played with purpose in the second period while building a 14-3 shots advantage. Binnington had to make early saves on Logan Stankoven and Esa Lindell.

Offensive zone pressure earned the Stars a power play that they converted 2:39 into the second period. Jamie Benn passed the puck into the high slot and Robertson tied the game 1-1 with a one-timer.

Dallas quickly got another power play and applied more pressure, but the Blues killed it off to keep the game tied.

Late in the second period, the Stars were dangerous with another man advantage. But Binnington slid to his right to deny Stankoven’s one-time blast from the left circle.

Dallas had plenty of puck possessions during the third period, too. Robertson had a terrific chance early, but he couldn’t reach a backhand shot around Binnington at the right post.

The Blues finally generated a few scoring chances, but Oettinger denied Jake Neighbours on a clean break-in.

St. Louis managed to reach overtime despite getting outshot 34-17 in regulation play.
