The Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday announced that rookie guard Jared McCain has suffered a torn meniscus and will have surgery. He is out indefinitely.

McCain, 20, has averaged 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 23 games (eight starts) this season. His scoring average is the highest of anyone on the team who has played in at least 20 games for the injury-plagued 76ers.

He suffered the injury in a 121-107 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday night.

Philadelphia selected McCain with the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft out of Duke, where he averaged 14.3 points and 5.0 rebounds last season.

The 76ers are 7-16, tied for the second-fewest wins in the Eastern Conference.
