Tom Wilson scored two third-period goals and the visiting Washington Capitals rallied for a 4-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.

Pierre-Luc Dubois had a goal and an assist and Dylan Strome also scored for the Capitals, who extended the franchise record with their ninth straight road win. Aliaksei Protas had two assists, and Logan Thompson made 22 saves.

Cole Caufield had a goal and an assist, and Alex Newhook also scored for the Canadiens, who were looking for their first three-game winning streak. Sam Montembeault made 31 saves.

Montreal’s Lane Hutson (assist) extended his point streak to six games and tied the franchise record for longest point streak by a rookie defenseman.

Wilson tied it 2-2 at 7:10 of the third period when he knocked in the rebound of Protas’ shot on the rush.

Wilson gave the Capitals a 3-2 lead at 11:48. Protas intercepted a pass in the Montreal zone and passed to Dubois, who slid the puck to Wilson for a shot from the low slot.

Strome made it 4-2 at 13:49 when he took a pass from Jakob Chychrun, moved in and beat Montembeault with a wrist shot from the high slot on a power play.

Wilson left the game briefly after being hit in the face by a Chychrun shot in the first period.

Newhook gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead at 11:09 of the first period. Newhook passed to Caufield on the rush, took a return pass and beat Thompson with a wrist shot from the top of the right circle.

Caufield made it 2-0 at 16:00. He stole the puck in the Washington zone and it went to Nick Suzuki, who passed it back to Caufield for a wrist shot from the left circle.

Dubois pulled the Capitals within 2-1 just 33 seconds into the second period when he deflected John Carlson’s slap shot from the point past Montembeault.
