WNCAAB: TCU, Duke crack top 10 in women’s hoops poll

Duke and TCU made major jumps into the top 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 women’s college basketball poll released Monday.

The Blue Devils (8-1) climbed five places to No. 8 after knocking off Kansas State and Oklahoma to win the Ball Dawgs Classic. The Horned Frogs (8-0) soared nine spots after beating Notre Dame and South Florida to win the Cayman Islands Classic.

It is the highest ranking for Duke since 2014 and the first time TCU has ever been in the top 10.

No. 1 UCLA (8-0) and No. 2 UConn (6-0) held on to their positions, with the Bruins receiving 25 first-place ballots and the Huskies earning seven.

No. 3 South Carolina (7-1) and No. 4 Texas (7-0) each jumped up one spot and LSU (9-0) improved two places to round out the top five.

The remainder of the top 10 includes No. 6 Southern California (6-1), No. 7 Maryland (8-0) and No. 10 Notre Dame (5-2), which tumbled seven spots.

Rivals Michigan (7-1) and Michigan State (8-0) moved into the poll at Nos. 23 and 24, respectively, while Oregon and N.C. State dropped out.
