WNCAAB: South Carolina unanimous No. 1 following 2-0 start

Defending national champion South Carolina was the unanimous No. 1 team in The Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll released on Monday.

All 31 voters selected the Gamecocks (2-0) following last week’s wins against Michigan and North Carolina State. In the preseason poll, two ballots went to No. 2 UConn and one to No. 3 Southern California.

The top eight teams remain unchanged. Following the Huskies (2-0) and Trojans (2-0) are Texas (1-0), UCLA (2-0), Notre Dame (2-0), LSU (2-0) and Iowa State (3-0).

Oklahoma (2-0) moved up one spot to No. 9 and Kansas State (2-0) climbed three places to round out the top 10.

No. 23 Illinois (2-0), No. 24 Stanford (3-0) and No. 25 Oregon (3-0) joined the poll while Creighton, Indiana and Florida State dropped out.
