MLB: Guardians re-sign C Austin Hedges to one-year deal

The Cleveland Guardians re-signed free agent catcher Austin Hedges to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

ESPN reported the deal was worth $4 million for Hedges, 32, who provides depth behind starter Bo Naylor.

Hedges batted .152 with two home runs and 15 RBIs in 66 games in 2024, including 46 starts behind the plate.

He is a career .186 hitter with 69 homers and 238 RBIs in 752 games for the San Diego Padres (2015-20), Cleveland (2020-22, 2024), Pittsburgh Pirates (2023) and Texas Rangers (2023).
