Top-seeded Qinwen Zheng outlasted wild card Sofia Kenin 7-6 (5), 6-3 to win the final of the Pan Pacific Open on Sunday in Tokyo.

Zheng, of China, fired 16 aces to dispatch Kenin in one hour, 52 minutes and claim her third WTA Tour singles title of the year and fifth of her career. She also won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kenin, who last won a tournament in 2020, was able to erase all five break points she faced in the first set to force a tiebreak.

Guangzhou Open

Serbian Olga Danilovic breezed to a 6-3, 6-1 win over qualifier Caroline Dolehide in China to capture her second career WTA title.

Danilovic, whose previous win came on clay in Moscow in 2018, won 25 of 35 first-serve points en route to claiming her first hard-court final in 75 minutes. She also became the second Serbian player to win in Guangzhou, with Jelena Jankovic securing the title in 2015.

Fueled by her win over top-seeded Katerina Siniakova, Danilovic fired 24 winners compared to 12 by Dolehide.
