NHL: Reports: Rangers, Alexis Lafreniere finalizing 7-year extension

The New York Rangers and forward Alexis Lafreniere are close to finalizing a seven-year contract extension, multiple media outlets reported on Friday.

TSN reported the deal is worth $52.15 million for Lafreniere, who signed a two-year, $4.65 million contract in August 2023 and is set to become a restricted free agent after this season.

Lafreniere’s reported new contract will begin in 2025-26 season and span through the 2031-32 campaign.

He has recorded seven points (four goals, three assists) in seven games this season.

Lafreniere, 23, has totaled 155 points (79 goals, 76 assists) in 305 games since being selected by the Rangers with the top overall pick of the 2020 NHL Draft.
