Josh Norris’ second goal of the game propelled the host Ottawa Senators to an 8-7 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Kings Monday.

The center’s goal just 56 seconds into the extra session capped a wild affair on a holiday afternoon in the Canadian capital. Both teams rallied to tie the game in the third period, and they combined for seven power-play goals, with Ottawa getting four.

In all, 11 players found the back of the net. Besides Norris, Zack MacEwen scored twice for Ottawa. Alex Laferriere and Kevin Fiala each posted two goals for Los Angeles, which lost in overtime for the second consecutive game.

Norris took a back-hand feed from Drake Batherson between the faceoff circles and then beat Kings goalie Darcy Kuemper on the short side for the game-winner. His first goal came with 10:42 left in regulation to give Ottawa a 7-6 lead, its first in the game.

Los Angeles, which led 4-2, 5-4 and 6-5, later tied it on an unassisted goal by Tanner Jeannot with 5:34 left in the third period.

Norris added an assist to get a three-point day for Ottawa, and teammate Tim Stutzle assisted on three goals. Anze Kopitar and Brandt Clarke each notched three assists for the Kings.

Ottawa’s third game of the season was its first without goalie Linus Ullmark. Traded from Boston in the offseason, Ullmark did not practice Sunday, with coach Travis Green calling it a maintenance day, according to the Ottawa Citizen.

Early Monday, the team brought up goalie Mads Sogaard on an emergency basis from AHL affiliate Belleville to back up Anton Forsberg. Sogaard then relieved Forsberg less than seven minutes into the second period after the starter yielded three goals on just nine shots from Los Angeles.

Sogaard made 13 saves on 17 shots to post his first win for the Senators since Jan. 21.

The Senators also lost defenseman Artem Zub after he sustained an upper-body injury while taking a hit from Jeannot less than six minutes into the game.

Kuemper made 33 saves on 41 Senators shots.
