The Swiss Stage of the 2024 League of Legends World Championship began Thursday in Berlin, with eight teams advancing to the Round 2 High matches.

Bilibili Gaming, Dplus, FlyQuest, G2 Esports, Gen.G Esports, Hanwha Life Esports, LNG Esports and Top Esports were the day’s winners. Meanwhile, all four teams that advanced to the Swiss Stage via the play-ins — MAD Lions KOI, GAM Esports, paiN Gaming and PSG Talon — were among the teams to lose and move into the Round 2 Low matches.

In the most notable match of the day, Top Esports defeated T1 in 31 minutes on blue. T1 won the 2023 World Championship and the LoL tournament at this summer’s Esports World Cup – where they defeated Top 3-1 in the grand final.

The format called for eight Round 1 matches with teams paired against opponents from a different region. Rounds 2 through 5 will be seeded based on win-loss record. Teams that reach three wins advance to the knockout stage, while teams that wind up with three losses are eliminated.

Elimination and advancement matches will be best-of-three, while all others are best-of-one.

Friday’s four Round 2 High matches:
–Bilibili Gaming vs. LNG Esports
–Gen.G Esports vs. Top Esports
–G2 Esports vs. Hanwha Life Esports
–FlyQuest vs. Dplus

Friday’s four Round 2 Low matches:
