MLB: Reds place LHP Andrew Abbott (shoulder) on 15-day IL

The Cincinnati Reds placed left-hander Andrew Abbott on the 15-day injured list Friday with a strain to his throwing shoulder.

The move was retroactive to Tuesday, two days after Abbott allowed four runs on six hits in five innings of an 8-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals.

Abbott, 25, owns a 10-10 record with a 3.72 ERA in 25 starts this season. He is 18-16 with a 3.78 ERA in 46 career starts with the Reds.

Also on Friday, the Reds promoted right-hander Alan Busenitz from Triple-A Louisville and transferred catcher Austin Wynns from the 10- to 60-day injured list with a teres major tear in his right shoulder.

Busenitz, 34, owns a 5-2 record with one save and a 3.93 ERA in 40 appearances (two starts) this season with Louisville. He is 5-2 with a 4.36 ERA in 57 career relief appearances with the Minnesota Twins (2017-18) and Reds (2023).

Wynns, 33, is 7-for-19 (.368) in seven games in his first season with the Reds.

He is a career .230 hitter with 13 home runs and 63 RBIs in 238 games over parts of six seasons with the Baltimore Orioles (2018-19, 2021), San Francisco Giants (2022-23), Los Angeles Dodgers (2023), Colorado Rockies (2023) and Reds.
