The Los Angeles Angels and general manager Perry Minasian reached an agreement on a contract extension, multiple outlets reported Thursday.
Minasian is nearing the end of his initial four-year deal with the team, signed in November of 2020.
The Angels entered Thursday tied with the Oakland Athletics for last place in the American League West at 54-73.
The team has not been competitive during Minasian’s four-year run, following up a 77-85 record in his debut campaign in 2021 with 73-89 finishes in 2022 and 2023.
The Angels have not been to the playoffs since the 2014 season and have not won a playoff game since 2009.
Minasian began his career in baseball as a clubhouse attendant with the Texas Rangers in 1996. He scouted for the Rangers (2003-09) and Toronto Blue Jays (2009-17) before serving as an assistant general manager with the Atlanta Braves from 2017-20.
