The Seattle Mariners will make their first trip to Williamsport, Pa., in next season’s MLB Little League Classic on Aug. 17.

The Mariners will take on the New York Mets, who took part in the event in 2018, in the Sunday night game. The game takes place amid the Little League World Series, which is also held in Williamsport.

New York will be the home team for the finale of a three-game series, which will have the first two games played at Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y. The Mets, who will face the Atlanta Braves just before the matchups with the Mariners, will then have a day off afterward before hitting the road for a three-game series in Washington, D.C.

The Mariners will be playing the middle stretch of a nine-game road trip during that series. They will be at Baltimore beforehand and at Philadelphia afterward, with no days off immediately before or after facing the Mets.

The MLB Little League Classic began in 2017 with the Pittsburgh Pirates defeating the St. Louis Cardinals. The Mets beat the Phillies in 2018. The Pirates and Phillies have each appeared in the game twice.

The Detroit Tigers were playing the New York Yankees in this year’s game Sunday night.
