The Baltimore Orioles acquired outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for minor league left-handed pitcher Trey McGough on Tuesday.

Injuries have hampered Jimenez, 27, across his six-year career. He has never played in more than 122 games in a season. Jimenez has missed time this year because of a strained left adductor and a left hamstring strain.

In 65 games this season for the major league-worst White Sox, Jimenez hit .240 with five home runs and 16 RBIs.

Jimenez finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2019 and won a Silver Slugger Award in the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

He is a career .270 hitter with 94 home runs and 291 RBIs across 501 games, all with the White Sox.

McGough, 26, has gone 2-0 with a 1.99 ERA in 28 relief appearances this season between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk.
