The New York Mets placed rookie right-hander Christian Scott on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday because of a sprained right ulnar collateral ligament.

In a corresponding move, the Mets recalled left-hander Alex Young from Triple-A Syracuse.

Scott, whose move was retroactive to Monday, last pitched on Sunday in a 4-2 loss to the host Miami Marlins. He is 0-3 with a 4.56 ERA, 12 walks and 39 strikeouts in 47 1/3 innings over nine starts since making his major league debut on May 4.

He has given up eight home runs in the nine starts, similar to his statistics this season at Syracuse, where he yielded 10 homers over 42 1/3 innings in nine starts while posting a 3-0 record with a 2.76 ERA.

Scott, 25, was a fifth-round selection by the Mets in the 2021 MLB Draft out of the University of Florida.

Young, 30, had pitched two innings over three relief appearances for the Cincinnati Reds this season without allowing a run. The Reds traded him to the San Francisco Giants on July 7, and he was signed off waivers by the Mets on July 17.

He has played parts of six seasons for the Arizona Diamondbacks (2019-21), Cleveland Guardians (2021-22), Giants (2022) and Reds (2023-24). Young is 16-18 with one save and a 4.40 ERA in 264 innings over 163 games (25 starts).
