The Washington Capitals signed first-round draft pick Terik Parascak to a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value of $975,000, the team announced Friday.

Parascak, the 17th overall pick of the NHL draft last month, is a 6-foot forward who played last season for the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League. He totaled 105 points (43 goals, 62 assists) in 68 games — the most points and goals among all CHL rookies and eighth among WHL skaters.

The Canada native, 18, also had the fourth-best plus-minus rating (+49) in the WHL.
