The New Orleans Pelicans promoted Bryson Graham to the role of general manager on Tuesday.

Graham has spent the last five seasons as the Pelicans’ assistant general manager. He takes over as GM following the departure of Trajan Langdon, who left New Orleans in May after five years to join the Detroit Pistons as their president of basketball operations.

“Over his 14 NBA seasons, Bryson has built a stellar reputation throughout the NBA,” said David Griffin, the Pelicans’ executive vice president of basketball operations.

“First and foremost, he is recognized for the strength of his character. His work ethic, basketball acumen, leadership ability and eye for talent have contributed immeasurably to our growth as a franchise. I couldn’t be happier to see him assume the role of general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans.”

Graham, 37, joined the Pelicans in the 2010-11 season as a basketball operations intern. He has also served as a scouting coordinator and director of college scouting.

Also on Tuesday, New Orleans hired Jon Moul as the team’s senior director of cap and strategy.
