Joe Gibbs Racing confirmed that Chase Briscoe will replace retiring driver Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 19 Toyota for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Tuesday’s announcement came a few days after fellow JGR driver Christopher Bell accidentally leaked the news in a press conference at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Briscoe, 29, is currently driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, which is set to close following the 2024 season. He ranks 16th in the standings following a second-place finish Sunday in New Hampshire.

Briscoe has one victory in the Cup Series at Phoenix in 2022. He also has two wins in the Truck Series and 11 in the Xfinity Series.

“We have to win,” team owner Joe Gibbs said. “We think Chase can win.”

Briscoe will be paired with JGR crew chief James Small, who has helped Truex win eight races since 2020.

“JGR is the place to be if you want to go win races week in and week out and to race for the championship every year,” Briscoe said.
