NBA2K: Cavs Legion GC, Heat Check Gaming stay unbeaten at The Turn

Cavs Legion GC and Heat Check Gaming picked up close victories to remain unbeaten, while Warriors Gaming Squad and 76ers GC suffered their first losses on Wednesday in the NBA 2K League’s The Turn event.

The Turn is the second of three tournaments that lead up to the NBA 2K League 5v5 Playoffs that run June 26-29. Last week, Warriors Gaming Squad won The Tipoff. The Turn runs through June 15, and the final tournament, The Ticket, is on June 18 and 22.

Group play results will determine bracket seeding for The Turn, which carries a $160,000 prize pool.

The Cavs (4-0), who notched a 77-74 win over Hornets Venom GT (0-4), held a nine-point lead after three quarters before holding on for the victory. For the Cavs, Malik “Slaughter” Leisinger posted 19 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists while Antoine “Antoine” Featherstone also scored 19 and dished out 10 assists.

Heat Check Gaming improved to 4-0 by pulling out a 77-73 overtime win over Knicks Gaming (2-2), led by Ky “HoodieKy” Johnson, who poured in a game-high 26 points. Matt “Matty” Grant added 20 points and Kennedy “Sawc” Tauala Jr. finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Led by a game-high 37 points and game-high-tying 12 assists from Anthony “Ant” Costanzo, Detroit Gaming (3-1) knocked the Warriors (3-1) from the ranks of the unbeaten with an 85-83 overtime victory.

Solomona “Mona” Faitaua-Nanai finished with a double-double (23 points, 12 rebounds) for Detroit, while Charlie “CB13” Bostic posted 25 points and 12 assists and Iinativeil “Nay” Bhopal chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors, who won last year’s NBA 2K title.

Celtics Crossover Gaming (3-1) handed 76ers GC their first loss of the season, 65-62, sparked by a game-high 25 points from Xavier “630” Barraza and 19 points and 10 assists from Leche “Leche” Jamous. For the 76ers (3-1), Derrick “DJ” Jones led the way with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

In the day’s other games, Mavs Gaming rolled past Bucks Gaming 69-52; Magic Gaming topped NetsGC 71-62; Raptors Uprising GC demolished Hawks Talon GC 92-65; Pacers Gaming pounded Lakers Gaming 91-70; Wizards District Gaming crushed NBL Oz Gaming 104-44; Gen. G Tigers defeated Magic Gaming 84-70; Dux Infinitos downed Jazz Gaming 78-68; Blazer5 Gaming beat T-Wolves Gaming 83-73; and Kings Guard Gaming thumped Grizz Gaming 89-67.
