Notre Dame added Boise State to its 2025 football schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fighting Irish will host the Broncos, denying wishful observers the opportunity to see Notre Dame duke it out on Boise’s famous blue turf.

The game, scheduled for Oct. 5, will be the first ever matchup between the two football programs.

Last fall, Notre Dame finished No. 14 in the final Associated Press poll following a 10-3 season under second-year coach Marcus Freeman. The Fighting Irish defeated Oregon State 40-8 in the Sun Bowl.

Boise State is fresh off an 8-6 season that culminated in the hiring of interim coach Spencer Danielson as the full-time coach after he led the Broncos to the Mountain West Conference championship with a 44-20 win over UNLV in the title game.

The Broncos lost to UCLA 35-22 in the LA Bowl.
