PGA: Alex Smalley (illness) WDs from Charles Schwab Challenge

Alex Smalley withdrew before the start of Friday’s second round at the Charles Schwab Challenge due to illness.

Smalley, 27, carded an 8-over-par 78 in the first round Thursday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

He has missed the cut at 10 of his 15 events on the PGA Tour this year, including last week’s PGA Championship.

Grayson Murray, 30, withdrew near the end of his second round Friday with an illness. He shot a 2-under 68 on Thursday but was 5-over on Friday’s round through 16 holes.

Adam Schenk, 32, withdrew Thursday with a back injury after a first-round 75. He was the runner-up in the tournament last year.
