Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. will return to the lineup for Thursday’s pivotal Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinal series against the Denver Nuggets in Minneapolis.
Conley sat out Minnesota’s 112-97 loss to Denver in Game 5 on Tuesday due to a sore right Achilles. The Timberwolves trail 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.
Conley, 36, participated in Minnesota’s shootaround on Thursday morning before coach Chris Finch confirmed pregame that the veteran would play, while the team would be “mindful” of his injury.
Conley is averaging 11.3 points, 7.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds in eight games (all starts) in the postseason.
In his 17th NBA season, Conley started 76 games and averaged 11.4 points, 5.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals. He shot 44.2 percent from 3-point range and 91.1 percent from the free-throw line — both career highs.
