The Atlanta Braves placed reliever Pierce Johnson on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with elbow inflammation, while the contract of fellow right-hander Jackson Stephens was selected from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Johnson’s IL move is retroactive to Wednesday. To open a spot on the 40-man roster for Stephens, left-hander Angel Perdomo (elbow) was moved to the 60-day IL.

Johnson, 32, is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in 13 relief appearances this season. In seven seasons with five different clubs, he is 14-6 with a 3.98 ERA and 14 saves in 220 appearances (two starts).

Stephens, 29, went 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA over five outings at Gwinnett. He last appeared in the majors last season and is 7-7 with a 4.19 ERA in 80 games (five starts) over four seasons with the Cincinnati Reds and Braves.
