Team Falcons stormed through their final two matches to win the ESL One Birmingham 2024 title via the lower bracket, stunning BetBoom Team 3-0 in the grand final Sunday in England.
Team Falcons had eked out 2-1 wins in their previous two matches after Tundra Esports knocked them into the lower bracket early in the playoff stage. But in Sunday’s lower-bracket final, Falcons got their revenge with a 2-0 win, prevailing in 49 minutes and 57 minutes on red.
Then came the best-of-five grand final, a rematch of the DreamLeague Season 22 Final earlier this year, which Team Falcons won. They stayed strong in Sunday’s showdown, victorious in 46 minutes on green, 51 minutes on red and 40 minutes on green.
Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak of Russia averaged a kills-deaths-assists differential of 8.3-2.3-9.0 to lead Falcons to the $300,000 first prize. They also won BetBoom Dacha 2024 earlier this year.
BetBoom, which beat Tundra in Saturday’s upper-bracket final to reach the grand final, settled for a $175,000 prize for second.
Twelve teams, including eight regional qualifiers, began the Dota 2 tournament competing for a share of a $1 million prize pool and 26,640 ESL Pro Tour points.
