Petar Musa and Sebastien Ibeagha scored second-half goals to lift FC Dallas to a 2-0 win over short-handed Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday in Frisco, Texas, in the latest edition of the Texas Derby.

Dallas (2-5-2, eight points) snapped a seven-game winless streak and won for the first time since Feb. 24 when it captured its season opener. Toros goalkeeper Maarten Paes produced his third clean sheet of the season without making a save.

Houston (4-4-1, 13 points) dropped its second straight game and recorded just two shots and none on goal.

The Dynamo were down a player almost immediately when Griffin Dorsey was given a red card after he fouled Marco Farfan in the fifth minute.

Dallas quickly tried to take advantage of that situation as Asier Illarramendi clanged a shot off the left post in the seventh minute. It was Dallas’ only shot on goal until the 43rd minute when Musa’s right-footed attempt was stopped by Houston keeper Steve Clark.

The Toros broke through in the 55th minute when Musa took a pass from Ema Twumasi and raced toward the near post before unleashing a shot past Clark.

Dallas’ Patrickson Delgado tried to double the lead 10 minutes later from an extreme angle but Clark made the save.

The teams’ star players — Houston’s Hector Herrera and Dallas’ Jesus Ferreira — entered the game as substitutes in the 66th and 67th minute, respectively, in an attempt to inject some offense.

That strategy worked for the Toros, who added to their advantage when Ibeagha headed home a pass from Sam Junqua in the 80th minute.
