Former FAU standout guard Alijah Martin is transferring to Florida, he told ESPN on Sunday.

Martin, who will have one year of eligibility as a graduate transfer, averaged 11.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 124 games (86 starts) over four seasons for the Owls from 2020-24.

The 6-foot-2 Martin started 30 of 34 games this past season and averaged 13.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals en route to his third consecutive all-league honor (Conference USA twice, American Athletic Conference in 2024).

Martin made the 2023 NCAA All-Tournament team as FAU made a surprising run to the Final Four.

FAU (25-9, 14-4 AAC) lost to Northwestern in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Head coach Dusty May left FAU for Michigan and was replaced by John Jakus.

A native of Summit, Miss., Martin told ESPN that he selected Florida and coach Todd Golden over Michigan, Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Southern California.

“I wanted to stay in the South to play in the SEC, the strongest conference in America,” Martin said. “I wanted a chance to be a primary ball handler and compete for a national title, at a program known for NBA talent and developing players for the next level.”
