Ranger Suarez tossed a shutout and the host Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Colorado Rockies 5-0 on Tuesday.

Suarez (3-0) allowed seven hits with eight strikeouts and one walk. It was the second career shutout for Suarez, who threw a career-high 112 pitches.

Bryce Harper homered, doubled and drove in three runs for the Phillies. J.T. Realmuto added a two-run home run and Trea Turner doubled and scored two runs.

Ryan McMahon had two hits for the struggling Rockies, who lost for the fourth straight game.

In the ninth, Colorado’s Charlie Blackmon opened with a single and Ezequiel Tovar struck out looking. McMahon followed with a single to place runners at first and second, but Elias Diaz struck out on a changeup and Nolan Jones grounded out to Suarez to end the game.

Rockies starter Austin Gomber (0-1) gave up five hits and three runs (one earned), with four strikeouts and no walks, in 5 1/3 innings.

The Phillies went ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning when Realmuto launched a two-run home run off Gomber to left-center field.

The Rockies managed only one hit — a single by Diaz — through four innings.

Brenton Doyle singled to center with two outs in the fifth before Michael Toglia struck out looking.

Alan Trejo singled to open the sixth and reached second with two outs. McMahon hit an infield single, but Trejo was caught in between third and home and was tagged out.

Turner doubled with one out in the bottom of the sixth to extend his hitting streak to six games. Harper then ripped an RBI double to left-center for a 3-0 advantage.

Johan Rojas walked on four pitches to begin the bottom of the eighth inning. Kyle Schwarber struck out, but Rojas stole second base. Turner popped out before Harper blasted a two-run home run to right field for a 5-0 lead.
