The Texas Rangers placed left-hander Cody Bradford, the major leagues’ early-season co-leader with three victories, on the 15-day disabled list Sunday because of a low back strain.

Bradford is 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA, two walks and 17 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings over three starts. He also leads MLB pitchers with a 0.62 WHIP and walks per nine innings at 0.93.

With Bradford out, right-hander Michael Lorenzen will be activated from the 15-day IL and make his Rangers debut Monday in Detroit against the Tigers.

Bradford is the second pitcher in Rangers history to sport a 3-0 record and ERA of 1.40 or lower over his first three starts to a season, according to the team. Matt Harrison began 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA in 2011.

Bradford, 26, was a sixth-round pick for Texas in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Baylor. He is 7-3 with a 4.30 ERA, 14 walks and 68 strikeouts in 75 1/3 innings over 23 games (11 starts) since making his MLB debut in 2023.

In a corresponding move, Texas recalled right-hander Cole Winn from Triple-A Round Rock. Winn, 24, has yet to play in the majors. He was the Rangers’ top pick (No. 15 overall) of the 2018 draft out of Orange (Calif.) Lutheran High School.

Winn allowed five runs (four earned) with one walk and nine strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings over four relief appearances for Round Rock.
