Rookie goaltender Devin Cooley made 49 saves as the San Jose Sharks defeated Seattle 3-1 on Thursday night, spoiling the Kraken’s final home game of the season.

Luke Kunin, Kyle Burroughs and Fabian Zetterlund scored and William Eklund had two assists for San Jose (19-51-9, 47 points), which is in last place in the NHL’s overall standings.

Cooley, making just his fourth appearance, won his second straight start after a 3-2 overtime decision against visiting St. Louis on Saturday.

Brian Dumoulin scored for Seattle (33-32-13, 79 points) and Joey Daccord, making his first start since March 30 after an undisclosed injury, stopped 20 of 23 shots. The Kraken, who will play their final four regular-season games on the road, had a two-game winning streak snapped.

With the score tied 1-1, the Sharks scored two goals in 51 seconds late in the second period.

Burroughs joined an odd-man rush, took a cross-ice pass from Eklund and put a wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle just inside the far post at 14:46.

At 15:37, Zetterlund found space between three Seattle players in front of the net, took a pass from Eklund from the left wing corner, and shoveled the puck past Daccord’s glove to make it 3-1.

The Sharks opened the scoring at 8:06 of the first after winning a faceoff in the offensive zone. Henry Thrun’s shot from the left point was tipped by Kunin in the high slot, with Collin Graf, also playing his fourth game after signing an entry-level contract out of Quinnipiac University, getting to the front of the net to screen Daccord.

The Kraken tied it at 9:22 of the period as Jordan Eberle drove the puck down the right wing and sent a back pass to Dumoulin at the faceoff dot. An off-balance Dumoulin slid the puck under Cooley’s pads just before tumbling to the ice.
