Team Falcons took over first place in Group A by defeating G2.iG head-to-head during Round Robin Stage action Monday at the Dota 2 Elite League.

The teams entered the fourth day of the stage tied for first place in the group. Team Falcons opened with a quick 28-minute win on green, but the second map took 83 minutes before Falcons pulled out the win on red.

Oliver “skiter” Lepko of Slovakia averaged 9.5 kills, four deaths and 13 assists across the two rounds for Team Falcons, while teammate Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak of Russia put up a 10.5-5.5-12.0 K-D-A.

That was the only match of the day for G2.iG, and the team’s first loss of the stage. Team Falcons’ day was not dampened much by a 2-0 loss to OG later in the day, as OG won in 31 minutes on green and 37 minutes on red.

In fact, all five Group A matches Monday finished in 2-0 fashion with no ties. Azure Ray beat HEROIC (60 minutes on green, 39 minutes on red); Team Spirit swept OG (45 minutes and 42 minutes on green); and Entity topped HEROIC (34 minutes on green, 37 minutes on red). Entity tied G2.iG for second in the standings based on total maps won (six).

The only 2-0 result in Group B action was BetBoom Team’s triumph over Blacklist International. BetBoom prevailed in 44 minutes on green and 33 minutes on red. Danil “gpk” Skutin of Russia guided BetBoom with an 11.0-1.0-10.5 average K-D-A.

Team Liquid and Tundra Esports picked up a pair of draws — including one against each other — to remain tied atop the Group B standings. When they faced one another, Tundra opened things with a 36-minute victory on red before Liquid answered in 41 minutes on red.

Sixteen teams began the Elite League’s Swiss Stage (Group Stage 1), using a modified Swiss system. Nine came from closed qualifier seeds, and seven others were invited. All matches were best-of-three.

The top eight teams moved on to the Round Robin Stage (Group Stage 2), joining eight other teams that were seeded by invitation. That stage runs through Wednesday, with two single round-robin groups of eight teams apiece. Those matches are also best-of-three.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs, while the third- and fourth-place teams will go to the lower bracket. The playoffs begin Friday, and matches stay best-of-three until a best-of-five grand final.

The winner takes home $300,000 from the $960,000 prize pool.
