Barclay Goodrow scored two goals to lead the New York Rangers to a 4-3 road win over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.

Will Cuylle and Chris Kreider each added goals for New York (52-24-4, 108 points), which won its fifth straight road game and moved three points ahead of Boston for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. New York’s Jonny Brodzinski and Jimmy Vesey each had two assists.

Andrew Copp, J.T. Compher and Dylan Larkin scored for Detroit (37-31-8, 82 points), which remained one point behind the New York Islanders for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. David Perron logged two assists.

Kreider scored the game-winning goal with 9:46 left on a power play when he put home a rebound in front of the Detroit goal.

New York took a 1-0 lead with 14:02 remaining in the first period on a goal by Cuylle, who stole a pass in the Detroit zone by Red Wings defenseman Austin Czarnik and placed a shot between the legs of Detroit goalie Alex Lyon (34 saves).

Detroit answered just 1:13 later, tying the game at 1-1 when Copp pounced on a loose puck in front of New York goalie Jonathan Quick (31 saves) and backhanded a shot in.

The Rangers went up 2-1 with 29 seconds left in the first period when Goodrow jumped on a loose puck in front of Lyon following a faceoff and fired a shot into the goal.

Detroit tied the game 1:24 into the second period when the puck caromed off Compher as he was battling in front of Quick and went into the goal to make it 2-2.

The Red Wings then took a 3-2 lead with 6:41 left in the second on a power play when Larkin put home a rebound to the left of Quick. It was Larkin’s 30th goal of the year.

However, 25 seconds later, the Rangers tied the game at 3-3 on the second goal of the game by Goodrow, who put in a rebound left by Lyon.
