Columbus Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner and his wife, Maggie, on Wednesday announced their son was stillborn.

“We are at a loss for words. A pain like no other. Our son, Dawson Jenner was stillborn on March 31, 2024,” the Jenners said in a statement released by the Blue Jackets. “While this pain is like nothing we’ve experienced before, it’s also shown us the immense love we have to give.

“As heartbroken as we are, we are incredibly grateful to be his parents and look forward to holding him again one day in heaven. We are thankful and feel blessed for the outpouring of love and support from our family and friends. We appreciate everyone respecting our privacy as we navigate this extremely difficult time.”

Boone Jenner, 30, has been away from the team since last Thursday. The forward has missed the team’s past two games.

He has recorded 35 points (22 goals, 13 assists) in 58 games this season.

Named the seventh in captain franchise history on Oct. 12, 2021, Jenner has totaled 364 points (192 goals, 172 assists) in 715 career games since being selected by Columbus in the second round of the 2011 NHL Draft.
