Mathieu Joseph and Thomas Chabot each had a goal and an assist for the Ottawa Senators in a 5-2 win against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday in Newark, N.J.

Brady Tkachuk had two assists, and Joonas Korpisalo made 18 saves for the Senators (29-36-4, 62 points), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Jesper Bratt and Tomas Nosek scored for the Devils (34-33-4, 72 points), who have lost three of their past five games.

Joseph gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead on a short-handed breakaway at 4:56 of the first period. Joseph got to a loose puck first in the neutral zone off a New Jersey turnover and skated up the right side before firing a shot from low in the circle that fell through Allen and rolled into the net.

The Devils responded quickly to start the second period, scoring twice in 36 seconds.

Senators forward Shane Pinto’s drop pass intended for Jakob Chychrun missed the defenseman, and Bratt was first to it for a breakaway, slipping a backhand shot five-hole on Korpisalo to tie it 1-1 just 23 seconds into the frame.

Nosek put the Devils ahead 2-1 at 59 seconds. After Mercer intercepted the puck in the neutral zone and carried it in, Palat got his stick on it and sent a pass through the slot to Nosek, who snapped a quick shot through Korpisalo’s pads.

The goals came on New Jersey’s first two shots of the period.

Ottawa responded with three goals in a five-minute stretch.

Joseph collected a loose puck above the right circle and quickly fed Greig, who deked in front and slipped it by a sprawled Allen to tie it 2-2 at 4:06.

Angus Crookshank made it 3-2 Senators at 6:02 of the second. Chabot took a pass from Tim Stutzle and waited before feeding it to Crookshank for a one-timer from the right circle that beat Allen short side.

With the teams playing 4-on-4, Chabot finished off some deft passing on a 3-on-1 from low in the left circle to push the lead to 4-2 at 9:01.

Drake Batherson cut to the front of the net after a New Jersey turnover and lifted a backhander over Allen to extend it to 5-2 at 10:15 of the third period.
