Bowen Byram scored two goals and the host Buffalo Sabres handed the Detroit Red Wings their sixth consecutive loss, 7-3, on Tuesday night.

Zach Benson had a goal and two assists. Alex Tuch, Jeff Skinner, Connor Clifton and JJ Peterka also had goals for the Sabres, who scored four times in the first period. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 21 saves.

Lucas Raymond had a goal and an assist for Detroit. Ben Chiarot and Jake Walman had the Wings’ other goals.

Tuch scored his 18th goal on a breakaway just 1:07 into the contest. It was a result of a bad pass by Detroit in the Sabres’ zone. Buffalo nearly made it 2-0 during the first three minutes but an apparent goal was wiped out upon review when it was determined the Sabres were offside.

Tuch got behind the defense during a power play moments later, but Detroit goalie Alex Lyon made the stop.

Buffalo did take a two-goal lead at 10:09 of the period. Byram scored on a rebound of a Benson shot. Jordan Greenway picked up the second assist.

Chiarot put Detroit on the board with his fifth goal, off a pass by Raymond. Buffalo quickly answered at 13:00 of the period off a one-timer from Benson from the right circle. His seventh goal was set up by Greenway.

The Sabres continued to live in Detroit’s zone and Skinner scored his 21st goal, from the left side off another Benson pass. Lyon was then pulled in favor of James Reimer.

Clifton scored his second goal of the season at 4:27 of the second period to make it 5-1. He ripped a slap shot off Tage Thompson’s setup.

Thompson also assisted on Byram’s second goal of the game midway through the period, which was answered by Raymond’s power-play tally.

Peterka made a steal in the neutral zone and fired a shot over Reimer’s glove for a 7-2 advantage at 13:49 of the period.

Walman scored late in the third.
