About two hours after losing longtime star Saquon Barkley, the New York Giants agreed to terms with Devin Singletary on Monday as perhaps the new lead running back for the franchise.

Barkley departed for the Philadelphia Eagles and New York quickly countered by giving Singletary a reported three-year, $16.5 million deal that could be worth up to $19.5 million.

The Giants also reportedly agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with guard Jon Runyan Jr., according to published reports.

Runyan reportedly will receive $17 million in guaranteed money.

Singletary has rushed for 4,049 yards and 20 touchdowns and caught 175 passes for 1,164 yards and four scores in 78 games (66 starts) with the Buffalo Bills (2019-22) and Houston Texas (2023).

Singletary has rushed for over 800 yards in each of the past three seasons. Last season, he rushed for a career-best 898 yards for the Texans.

The 26-year-old has topped 1,000 scrimmage yards in each of the past three seasons with outputs of 1,098, 1,099 and last season’s 1,091.

Singletary was a third-round pick by the Bills in 2019.

Barkley, the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2018, rushed for 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns on 1,201 carries in 74 games (all starts) for the Giants from 2018-23. He also has 288 receptions for 2,100 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Runyan, 26, spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers and started 50 of 51 games over the past three seasons. Overall, he played in 67 games for Green Bay since he was a sixth-round draft pick out of Michigan in 2020.

Runyan figures to step into the Giants’ starting lineup.

He is the son of former longtime offensive tackle Jon Runyan, who played in 207 NFL games from 1996-2009.
