Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy broke the NFL Scouting Combine record in the 40-yard dash, running 4.21 seconds on Saturday in Indianapolis.
Worthy broke the record set by Washington Huskies WR John Ross (4.22) in 2017.
“I just broke the record. It still doesn’t feel real,” Worthy said. “Man, just a blessing to be able to do this in front of all these fans, with all these peers I’m with.”
Worthy ran a 4.25 in his first attempt.
Worthy caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. He has 26 career receiving touchdowns in three seasons at Texas. He finished fourth all time in school history in yards receiving (2,755) and eighth in punt return yards (564).
ESPN projects Worthy to be selected No. 32 overall by the Kansas Chiefs in April’s NFL draft.
Ross was selected No. 9 overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2017 draft. He retired in July 2023 after 62 career receptions for 957 yards and 11 TDs in 37 games (21 starts).
