Infielder Amed Rosario is joining the Tampa Bay Rays on a one-year, $1.5 million contract, ESPN reported Tuesday.

Rosario, 28, can provide depth for the Rays around the field. Normally a shortstop, he played 36 games at second base last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers after they acquired him in July from the Cleveland Guardians. He also could see some time in the outfield for the Rays.

A right-handed hitter, Rosario has a career average of .298 against lefty pitchers and .263 against right-handers. He is a lifetime .272 batter with 60 home runs and 334 RBIs in 839 games with the New York Mets (2017-20), Guardians (2021-23) and Dodgers.
