Cristobal del Solar posted the lowest round in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event and tied the lowest professional tournament score ever after carding a 13-under-par 57 on Thursday.

del Solar, a 30-year-old from Chile, recorded two eagles and nine birdies during his bogey-free opening round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Astara Golf Championship in Bogota, Colombia.

“I’m just so happy,” del Solar told GolfChannel.com. “When you go out there, you don’t really think I’m going to shoot 57 today. … Yeah, man, it was a good round.”

The Florida State product started fast right out of the chute, carding an 8-under 27 on the front nine.

“It was a great front nine,” del Solar said, per GolfChannel.com. “I was obviously very excited, but I was trying to keep focused and not think of the score.”

del Solar had a chance for an even lower final score, however he misfired on a 15-foot putt for birdie on the par-4 18th hole.

Despite failing to make that putt, del Solar matched the 11-under 57 recorded by Ireland’s David Carey during the opening round of the Cervino Open on the Alps Tour in 2019.

del Solar is bidding for his first victory on the Korn Ferry Tour. He previously won four events on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, including twice in 2022.

“I’m just trying to do my routine, man,” del Solar said, per GolfChannel.com. “I know I just shot 57, an unbelievable round, but it’s the first day of the tournament. So, I’ll just try to move on, go to the gym and do what I do one a weekly basis.”
