Steve Belichick, the son of erstwhile New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, has accepted the job of defensive coordinator at the University of Washington, 247Sports and ESPN reported Monday.

Steve Belichick, 36, reunites with new Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch, who was with the Patriots in 2020 as quarterbacks coach.

Belichick spent the past 12 seasons with the Patriots as a defensive assistant, including five as the defensive play-caller.

It was reported last month that new Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo offered to retain both Steve Belichick and his brother Brian Belichick, safeties coach under his father, as part of his new coaching staff.

Fisch signed a seven-year deal with Washington last month to replace Kalen DeBoer, who left to succeed Nick Saban at Alabama.
